Leveling Hulls
By the end of December I have the hull completely glassed, and I'm
ready to start installing all those parts I've been carting around
coast to coast for several years. But first, I have to make sure
the hull is level. I install wings for bottle jacks on each of
the hull supports.

I use a cheap electronic water level to get everything lined up fore
and aft. It's as accurate as laser levels that cost 10 times as
much. If you pay the same price for a laser level, you get
accuracy +/- 1" in 30 feet, which is to say, pretty lousy.

Taut strings across the cockpit and forward beam bulkhead level the
boat athwartships.

We have a cold spell in December so I start storing my resin in a
cooler with a 15-watt light bulb inside, which keeps it nice and warm.

Finally, I'm ready to start installing the CMMs.
